It’s hard to believe it’s been five years since the first Covid lockdown — but the current UK weather is reminiscent. Thanks to your continued support, our business managed to weather the stress and strain of lockdown, keeping production going and helmets on heads.
Did you know that most cycle helmet brands recommend replacing your helmet every 2–5 years? That’s because the inner liner, typically made from EPS foam, can degrade over time. Drops, knocks, and general wear can compress the foam, reducing its ability to protect you. Your bike helmet's safety instructions will tell you how long they last.
If your Dashel ReCycle Helmet hasn’t suffered any significant impacts or crashes, we recommend replacing it every five years. We suggest the full lifespan because our liners are made from high-quality EPS bead, processed and manufactured at a world-class facility in Wales. Once produced, they're carefully packaged and sent to our assembly factory, where they undergo a final quality check before becoming part of your helmet.
This year, once we've collected enough used helmets, we'll begin recycling them here in the UK, and we look forward to showing off that process. By 2026, we want to be recycling helmets in mainland Europe as well. If you'd like to return a helmet within mainland Europe this year, just email info@dashel.co.uk for options including a freepost label and money off your next Dashel.
If your bike helmet isn't a Dashel we may still be able to recycle it for you. Just get in touch.
