Dashel Is a B Corp!
We are delighted to announce that, after a two-year accreditation process, Dashel has officially become a certified B Corporation! This milestone marks a significant achievement for us as a company, as it demonstrates our deep commitment to sustainability, ethical business practices, and using our work to create a positive impact on the world.
Known for being an incredibly comprehensive and detailed accreditation process, we chose to apply for B Corp status because of its rigorous approach to evaluating a company's environmental and social performance in equal measure. B Lab audited every aspect of our business, from our manufacturing practices and material sourcing, to our recycling programs and HR policies.
One of Catherine’s favourite parts of the process was seeing the ripple effect that this certification creates. B Corp requires all shareholders to align with a company’s vision to be a force for good, which has a broader impact on the communities we work with. For example, our office space is rented, and through collaboration with our landlady, we implemented changes that helped reduce the carbon footprint for every business operating in the building. And on top of that, our incredible manufacturing partner, Magma Moulding, earned their B Corp certification last year—becoming the first plastics manufacturer in the world to achieve this!
As a brand, Dashel has always been about more than just helmets. Since our founding in 2017, we've been manufacturing stylish, safe bike helmets in Redruth and Plymouth, always with sustainability at the heart of our designs. Our name, inspired by the Cornish word for thistle—a protective and colorful flower—reflects our commitment to protecting cyclists while also caring for the planet. We use sustainable materials and renewable energy to power our production, and we’ve introduced a recycling program to address the inevitable question of where helmets go once they reach the end of their lifespan.
In three years, we'll be up for recertification, and I’m already looking forward to seeing where the cycling world will be by then. In the meantime, we’re incredibly proud to be part of a global community of brands committed to using business as a force for good. Thank you for supporting Dashel—together, we’re making a difference.
