Dashel FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
1. Returns and Exchanges
If you would like to exchange, or return the helmet purchased from www.dashel.co.uk then you can return it within 30 days, providing it is in its original packaging, the tags are still attached and the helmet is unused. Full details can be found on our Delivery & Returns page.
2. What’s the difference between the helmets?
The Recycle Helmets and Ocean Editions are exactly the same size and are made from the same materials except for the carrying loop at the back.
The Carbon Fibre Edition is handmade by craftspeople in small batches via moulds and is on average 40-50 grams lighter per size and 1 cm smaller than the equivalent size in the ReCycle helmet.
The kids helmet has an extra small harness with non magnetic clip.
All are manufactured in the UK.
3. How and where are Dashel helmets made?
A big part of the Dashel ethos is maintaining a sustainable and transparent supply chain which has been independently B Corp certified. We work with factories in England and Wales where the helmets are made and assembled, and we try to source our parts as locally as possible.
4. Can I buy Dashel Helmets if I am based outside of Europe?
Yes. Please note Dashel Cycle Helmets have been tested to EN1078 - The European Standard. Dashel Cycle Helmets are therefore only intended for use in Europe and any use outside this territory will be at your own risk and we disclaim all liability thereto.
5. Ventilation, Vents, Venting
The helmet has 5 vent holes – these aren’t always easy to see in photographs. Inside are removeable, washable coolmax pads.
6. Will you make extra large helmets?
Yes, if there is demand. If your head is larger than 61cm and you'd like a Dashel, send us a message via the contact page and we’ll register your interest.
8. Do you have MIPS inside?
MIPS is a great invention that helps prevents rotational injuries - angular shaped helmets (used for racing) can catch, rather than glide to a halt, so can fabric/matt covered shells. MIPS offsets this. But Dashel was designed with a smooth rounded shape to minimise rotational injuries. MIPs took our helmets and tested them, as their insert did not improve our results in a crash by more than 5% (which is the normal tolerance you get in a crash test, which is conducted on a guided freefall) we have not incorporated MIPS.
